SALT LAKE CITY — Police are asking for help locating a 17-year-old girl who went missing from her home Monday and may be attempting to meet up with a man she met on social media.

Baylee Fausett, of Kearns, was last seen Monday afternoon near The Road Home homeless shelter, 210 S. Rio Grande St., Unified police Lt. Ken Hansen said.

Fausett was originally reported as a runaway, but police upgraded the case to a missing endangered investigation Tuesday.

The teen has a diminished mental capacity, giving her the mindset of a 12-year-old child, and is legally blind. Social media activity indicates she has been in contact with a man in Colorado and may be trying to get the money to travel to see him, Hansen said.

Fausett is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs about 130 pounds, and has short red hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information about Fausett's whereabouts is asked to call Unified police at 801-743-7000.
