Gallup’s latest State of the States poll, published on Jan. 31, 2014, ranked each state in America from most conservative to most liberal.

While the gap between “conservative and liberal self-identification” is narrowing, the conservative advantage is still appears predominant.

According to the poll's data, most of the conservative states are found in the South and West, while the more liberal-identified states are located on the coasts.

According to Gallup, the results of the poll are based on phone interviews of 178,527 adults conducted Jan. 2-Dec. 29, 2013.

Included within our list are Gallup's conservative/liberal rankings and the percentage of the state's population who either approve or disapprove of President Barack Obama's job performance.

The Gallup Poll huh? Gallop and Rasmussen are right-leaning, and they are the only two major polling agencies who predicted a Romney win, so when either of them make assertions, I question the validity of those poll numbers.

Being Liberal does not necessarily equate to approving of Obama.

Plenty of Liberals disapprove of Obama's performance, but of course, they would never vote for a Republican presidential candidate, because Liberal Republicans no longer exist.

Yeah, the instruct of Columbia isn't a state.

Maybe its one of the extra seven states Obama claimed to campaign in.

As though being "Liberal" is some how evil...

funny, even in the most liberal states, those claiming to be liberal only crack 30 percent in two. as Walt points out, DC is not a state.

We can infer from this that even by liberal standards, LDS lib, being liberal is apparently somehow evil.

I thought it was interesting that every Conservative State's picture was of nature and their State's God-given natural beauty... and all but 2 of the Liberal State's identifying image was of their massive buildings and man-made stuff.

And yet... it's usually the representatives from these Liberal States with their concrete and asphalt canyons of buildings... who lecture us about how to take care of OUR natural beauty.

Why would we look to people who have wasted their OWN natural beauty (turning them into endless landscapes of buildings and roads)... to tell us how to care for OUR land, and preserve OUR natural beauty?

Just seems amazingly ironic to me.
