The 10 highest paid CEOs (10 items)

Median pay for CEOs has reached its highest mark, according to a new report by the Associated Press and executive-pay research firm Equilar.

“Propelled by a soaring stock market, the median pay package for a CEO rose above eight figures for the first time last year,” The AP’s Ken Sweet reported on Tuesday.

The median pay of these CEOs, according to the report, is $10.5 million. Among the top 10 — the top earners among the world’s top earners — media giants such as those at Disney, Time Warner and CBS have the strongest showing, making up six of the 10 highest-paid executives.

Company: Comcast

Salary according to the Associated Press: $31.4 million

Roberts has been CEO of Comcast since 2004. According to the Associated Press, his salary increased 8 percent in 2013.

2 of 10. Jeffrey Bewkes

Company: Time Warner

Salary according to the Associated Press: $32.5 million

Bewkes became CEO of Time Warner in 2008. According to the Associated Press, Bewkes' salary increased 27 percent in 2013.

Company: Discovery Communications

Salary according to the Associated Press: $33.3 million

Zaslav became CEO of Discovery Communications in 2007. According to the Associated Press, Zaslav's salary dropped 33 percent in 2013.

Company: Walt Disney

Salary according to the Associated Press: $34.3 million

Iger became chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company in 2005 and oversaw the aquisition of Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm.

According to the Associated Press, Iger's salary decreased 7 percent in 2013.

Company: Regeneron Pharmaceuticals

Salary according to the Associated Press: $36.3 million

Schleifer founded the biotechnology company Regeneron in 1988. According to the Associated Press, his salary increased 21 percent in 2013.
