I had just been thinking about the massive responsibilities of the "General Authorities" when I read this. So much to do these days with a Church of about 15 millions scattered throughout the world, and the various different cultures and national governments etc. They seem to me to do an excellent, caring and inspired job. I am somewhat in awe I must say.

I remember Elder Bednar looking young when he was first called. Not so much now. He has sure aged a lot in the last 10 years.

And I find it stunning that Elder Ballard is 85. He seriously looks (and acts) about 60. I hope I age that gracefully.

Happy Birthday Elder Perry! Many years ago you were in Nashville, Tennessee, for a stake conference. Had dinner at the Stake President's home with dessert aftter the meeting at our home. You kicked a ball from under my oldest son's head and scared that young man sillly. There were chocolate pies to eat, and the young people who had gathered at our home had eaten the two that had firmed up....leaving two pies that were more like pudding. You ate two helping of those and said you had always liked chocolate pudding. It was a great ending to a wonderful spiritual day. That young man served a mission in Taiwan and 2 sons each served missions. Now both his boys have been sealed in the Temple, one has 3 children, the other newly married. Your influence has touched the lives of my family. They all live in Utah: Alpine and Provo.
Again, I wish you a very happy birthday.
