Game MVP

Taysom Hill was composed throughout and finished with 28-36 passing for 308 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran the ball for another 97 yards on 11 carries and capped off BYU's offensive effort with 26-yard touchdown run.

1 of 3. X-Factor

BYU's red zone execution was abysmal throughout last season, but showed improvement Friday night. The Cougars' first two trips into the red zone resulted in two touchdowns to help build a big lead against the Huskies.

2 of 3. By the numbers

BYU's overall effort against the Huskies was marred by mental mistakes to the tune of 15 penalties for 150 yards. The mistakes stalled drives and kept UConn within shouting distance for much of the second half.

3 of 3. Next up

BYU will be on the road again a week from Saturday to take on the No. 24-ranked Texas Longhorns.

While I agree there was lot of mental errors...

Some of those 15 calls was questionable to say the least.

They were calling a extremely tight game...

As an HS football Official, I felt about half (both sides) should have been no calls.
